Six AU Female Entrepreneurs Who Are Crushing It in 2022

We’ve still got quite a way to go when it comes to gender equality, but we also can’t deny that the opportunities available to women today are unprecedented. In Australia, at least, with a good vision, consistency and hard work, the future of female entrepreneurs couldn’t be brighter.

So, as International Women’s Day draws nearer, let’s take a look at six of the most inspiring AU female entrepreneurs who are crushing it this 2022:

Melanie Perkins (Canva)

Melanie Perkins (Canva)

Who hasn’t heard of Melanie Perkins? Or of Canva?

Every other person in the world has probably used this program for online advertising and email marketing needs, especially if you’re not too adept with creating your own graphics. And just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Canva is an online design and publishing tool.

Launched in 2013, Canva is one of the world’s most successful and celebrated tech companies. That’s hardly surprising as it provides so many design options. More importantly, it’s easy to use.

Little wonder then that its half-Filipino founder now ranks as one of the richest women in the world. Way to go, Melanie!

Katie Page (Harvey Norman)

Can you imagine managing 277 stores in eight countries? Sounds impossible? Well, that’s what Katie Page does!

Katie is often referred to as the mastermind behind the massive success of Harvey Norman. It’s an Australia-based, multinational retailer of furniture, computers, and other electrical products.

Apart from a 21-year career as a CEO, she’s also the first woman to be elected to the board of the National Rugby League (NRL) in 2005. Aside from business and NRL, she also backs several other athletes in various professional sports, especially women. Talk about multitasking!

Kayla Itsines (Sweat App)

Would you rather build muscles or a business?

But why choose when you can have both?

That’s exactly what Kayla did! She went from an ordinary personal trainer to one of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs through her fitness app, Sweat.

At 29, she managed to accumulate a whooping net worth of $64 million. Furthermore, Kayla’s determination, hard work, and brilliant idea also gave the world one of the most effective fitness apps.

Diana Williams (Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs)

Health is wealth. Literally, in Diana Williams’ case.

A former stay-at-home mom, Diana noticed the demand for (and the lack of) a female-only gym on the market. Hence, she opened Fernwood Women’s Health Club and thirty years later, it now has 70,000 members.

Just like other women entrepreneurs, she juggles different activities. As does her fitness studio, which offers various classes in yoga, Zumba, Pilates, and Tai Chi. Better still, they offer free breakfasts and hair care products, too!

Janine Allis (Boost Juice)

Did you know that you can make millions by selling juice? Yep, that’s how Janine built her empire.

It all started in her home back in 2000, where she first sold juice. Twenty years later, Janine’s Boost Juice bar is now one of Australia’s most famous and beloved juice and smoothie brands.

What’s her secret? Janine said that it’s all about the importance of good leadership and resilience – no matter how tough things get.

Sarina Russo (Sarina Russo Group)

They say you should learn from your mistakes, so that’s exactly what Sarina Russo did. She came to Australia as a child and worked a string of jobs that taught her different skills. However, she was also fired from eight workplaces.

But instead of being bitter about it, she used her experience to build the Sarina Russo Group, Australia’s largest education, training, and employment provider. As of now, the company has helped more than 85,000 individuals land jobs for more than 30 years now. Wow.

We can go on and on about how women leaders are changing the world. The women we’ve mentioned are just a handful of the amazing Australian women entrepreneurs out there. And given the opportunities out there today, we’d love to see more of them in the future.
