Six Practical Yet Effective LinkedIn Marketing Strategies for SME’s

We’ve talked about how social media (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) can take your business to the next level. While we often think of Facebook or Instagram, there’s another platform you can use to reach or expand your target market.

Say, you’re running a Small or Mid-size Enterprise (SME) providing digital designs to other companies. And you want to expand your network by reaching out to other organisations, especially the bigger players.

And the best platform to do exactly that? LinkedIn.

Why?  LinkedIn just happens to be the world’s largest professional network, with 810 million members in 200 countries worldwide. It’s the go-to social media platform for every professional who wants to connect with businesses and clients.

Hence, it’s ideal for making connections, establishing partnerships, generating leads, and even raising brand awareness. If you’re not on it yet, it’s high time to sign up!

Already have a LinkedIn account but don’t know where to begin? Here are six practical yet effective marketing strategies you can use to promote your business on the platform:

Update Photos Regularly

Update Photos Regularly

As with other social media platforms, you need to constantly update your LinkedIn profile. Hence, you should post and share valuable content regularly.

For example, if there are special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or New Year, change your profile picture and banner to match the holiday in question.

Not confident about your artistic skills? A great remote graphic designer can definitely create engaging posters and graphics that can make your profile standout. *wink*wink*

Use Relevant Keywords

Use-Relevant-Keywords

Speaking of holidays, you need to use keywords that are relevant to both your products and the current trends. Think of phrases or words that people usually search for and insert those into your captions and photo descriptions.

If you’re promoting design services, you can write captions that mention “quality graphic design services in Sydney.” Adding this phrase will direct potential clients searching for the same on LinkedIn.

That, my friend, is the magic of search engines.

Analyse Your Industry

Let’s face it, you’re not the only business on LinkedIn. Heck, your competitors are bound to be on it too, so your content needs to stand out.

Start by analysing your competition. Check out at least five of your competitors and see how (and what) they’re doing. How often do they post? Which business(es) garner the most attention? Who is struggling to get high-level engagement?

Observe and learn from their successes and failures. You don’t have to copy every little thing that they do. Just see what works for them and adapt that to match your company and industry.

Complete All Key Fields

Page fields are crucial in LinkedIn. These contain valuable information about your business, such as its year of establishment, product offers, company website, and contact details.

Being an SME shouldn’t stop you from filling in all these fields, even if there’s not much to say in some of them (yet). Adding all the details doesn’t just optimise your profile. It also ensures that potential clients can find all the information once they visit.

Create an Engaging About Us Section

A simple About Us page won’t suffice. Remember, first-time visitors often check this section first. This (aside from your profile photo and banner) is where they will base their first impression of your company.

Thus, your About Us section needs to be creative, friendly, and engaging. And the less technical the content sounds, the better.

Of course, if you’re not a wordsmith, you can always get a skilled remote content writer to create one for you.

Engage Your Audience

Having great content and visuals isn’t enough if there’s no interaction and engagement. If your followers like and comment on your posts, always respond. Posting interesting questions are also more likely to gain attention on LinkedIn.

Start conversations, respond to messages and requests, and comment and share other posts that are related to your products and services. That way, you’re likely to pop up on everyone’s newsfeed.

Who knows? Your next clients might just be waiting for you to accept their LinkedIn connection requests.
